wool of icelandic sheepIcelaine designs and manufactures products with wool of Icelandic sheep.

Why wool of Icelandic sheep ?

• Fleece of more than 5 basic natural colors: white, black, gray, brown, beige, with several variations.

• Double Fleece (combined softness and resistance).

• 2 shearings per year

The fleece of the Icelandic sheep is double, the interior part (Thel) and the external part (Tog): The interior part is made up of a fibre from 2 to 4 inches long very fine, very soft. This part is used as insulator by the sheep against the heat, the cold and moisture.

The external part is made up of a fibre from 5 to 9 inches long, it is straight and resistant. It protects the sheep against water, the wind, dust and all the other remains. The properties of this fleece enable us to obtain a wire to be knitted with much volume of air and a light torsion while being solid.
